Traditionally, in Chinese cooking, water is usually used in lieu of chicken broth when making soup. For a more full bodied soup, replace water with chicken stock and omit the chicken powder.  If chicken powder is not available, use chicken boullion cubes.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups water
  • 2 teaspoon chicken powder
  • dash of white pepper
  • dash of sesame oil
  • 1 head of cabbage or a bundle of bok choy

Preparation

1.  In a pot, add 6 cups of water, 2 teaspoon of chicken powder, dash of white pepper and sesame oil.  When it boils, add vegetable of choice. 

2.  Serve with dumplings (recipe here).
