Mini Kanom Krok (Laotian Donuts)
Kanom Krok is one of my favorite Laotian desserts. I have been wanting to make it for the longest time but couldn’t find a recipe. Then one day I found a kanom krok mix at a local Lao store. I was really excited! I couldn’t get the batter right at first but it was worth the effort when I finally did. I hope you enjoy making this dessert as much as I did.Mini Kanom Krok (Laotian Donuts),
- Mini donut hole maker
- 1 cup Kanom Krok Mix
- 2 cups coconut milk
- 1 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
- 1/3 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup green onion, diced
- 1/2 cup corn (optional)
Preparation1. Pour the kanom krok mix in a mixing bowl. With a fork, break up clumps to smooth out the flour mixture. Add in the rest of your ingredients (except green onions and corn) and mix really well.
2. Heat up the donut maker until very hot. Fill the donut holes with mixture, leaving 1 inch on top to rise.
3. Sprinkle diced green onions or corn to the batter. Close the lid and cook for about 10 minutes or until the kanom krok are golden brown.
4. With a fork, poke the middle of each kanom krok and remove gently to a plate. (The kanom krok will come out sticky but no worries, they'll firm up when cooled.)
